If someone repeatedly mis-used (expensive) supplies, I'd probably tell them after free replacement #1 that they would have to either make do, or buy another kit.  That's a tough one to call, however...you have not only that person, but the whole class watching your demenour.

Your absolutely right in the fact that every student is watching your every move and these could be future clients, students whatever.  The rest of the students in this particular class even remarked about how patient I was with this lady after she left the class.  What am I going to do?  Have a drink or 10 after class. lol There is so much networking now a days and hopefully for those who want to participate that my former students spread the word around.  Most of my students though are really nice for that matter.  It's so nice to see the excitement on there face when they finish a project and then they walk of class with something special they made with there own two hands for themselves.  I actually have students from that class coming to my new class.  This absolutely important if I want to expand on my teaching.  I really need to build and excellent reputation.

Lots of errands to complete today.
Sent my pictures to Cmy for the challenge. Thank you!
Good luck Cmy on the sells next weekend.

Went to the beach the other day with Molly. No other people there. We had it all to ourselves!! I dropped her leash and let her snoop around. So far, she hasn't tried to run from me.

Periwinkle, you sound so busy! Good for you!!

This is it for now.

Yeah, I've been teaching at the local college for more than 5 years, and patience is definitely required!  The college crew is VERY different from the LBS crowd though!

You wouldn't believe that one of the classes I taught there was a woman who decided to do things "her way".  While upon deciding this she cut the wire too short for the piece that she was wrapping.  Wrecked the wrapping twice cuz she was man handling like you wouldn't believe and twisting the wire until it snapped.  I told here that I measured everything out precisely and that if she didn't follow instructions that the bangle wouldn't turn out the way it's pictured in the tutorial.  I ended up replacing lengths of sterling wire for her twice for free.  She never finished her bracelet meanwhile the other 7 students that I had finished and walked a way smiling.  This woman walked away miserable and went to the coordinator and complained about my class. She was the proverbial student from hell.  She had no idea as to what I really thought of her as I handled her with velvet gloves.   I really find that my biggest assest in teaching is my patience.  I just get into this zone being calm, collective, very upbeat and positive.  I really like teaching though it's fun to be able to pass on knowledge.

Leo, I hear you on the challenges of teaching!  One of the things I am facing at the LBS that asked me to teach is that people are looking at the "intro" classes and saying they are too easy.  "We know how to open and close jump rings already."

Okay, fine, but do you know the best way to do it?  Do you know what tools work best for a project?  Do you know how to figure AR to get the right rings for the right project?  Do you know how to add beads to a simple chain to make it cool?  Or how to incorporate different sizes and metals for interest?

They don't "get" (and the LBS owner doesn't get it either) that I will teach oh so much more than just how to do a simple chain.

hahaha Debbie, that's how I feel about seeding...good thing we all do different things so we can keep each other in business!!!

I'm working on another hinge project - I'm really taking my time and concentrating on details with this one.  Last night while AGT was on (I'm rooting for Prince Poppycock, he screams VEGAS and the guy has genuine talent, IMO) I made up a bunch of headpins.  Skipping my walk this a.m. to make earrings and get my trailer loaded for this wknd.

Have a good one!  Remember the challenge...while we'd set the deadline for last Tuesday  I think we can extend it out a little.

Lynn, most of your maille projects look like projects from Hell to me   I don't know how you have the patience for it - especially that tiny stuff you do - omg..

You can definitely tell fall is here as well.  My favorite time of year, hands down.  It took me living here three years to detect the change of the seasons, but now it's as obvious to me as when I lived in New York.  The best part - winter with NO SNOW!  lol....  My nephew loves the snow.  I can tell you, it doesn't run in the family...

Heading out for my walk in just a bit.  I'll check in on you all later.  Until then - have a great one!
